A few weeks ago, in a Saint Bernard group that Mike and I both belong to, another Saint parent shared a photo of their baby wearing leggings on their front legs. It turns out, the leggings were elbow pads, designed to protect them from developing hygromas or making existing ones worse. Well, Mia has had hygromas on both front legs since she was about 8 months old, so I was very intrigued by these pads.

For those who aren’t familiar, hygromas are fatty, fluid filled sacs that form on joints when they are repeatedly struck against hard surfaces, such as a wood or tile floor. Mia, (like many Saints, I’ve learned) doesn’t like carpet or dog beds and prefers cool surfaces. But those cool surfaces all tend to be hard. And apparently like most other Saints, she doesn’t lay down gently, but instead throws herself down onto the floor.

The biggest danger with hygromas is that they can either require draining if they grow too large, or they can burst and get infected if left untreated. So, knowing all of this, I was very excited when this doggie momma shared her info about these leggings.

After reading all the information on how to measure your dog, Mia and I measured for her cuffs and placed our order. Within a day, Bonny contacted us with questions about our measurements, to ensure that Mia’s cuffs fit as perfectly as possible. She and I chatted on the phone and confirmed the measurements and the order, and she said she would send the cuffs within the next few days. We received the cuffs less than a week after we ordered them, and they fit perfectly.
For the first time, since she was a baby, when she flops onto the hardwood or tile floors, I don’t hear a massive thud. It was so wonderful, that the first time she laid down, I almost burst into tears of happiness. And Mia mostly doesn’t mind wearing her leggings. Sometimes they must make her legs itch a little, because she licks at them a little, but mostly, she leaves them alone.
I am so glad we found these cuffs, and I will absolutely order from Bonny again!
