Goat Milk Soap & More!

So, quite some time ago, I started following the antics of a farm in Georgia, who has a number of goats, chickens, donkeys, pigs and one rather curmudgeonly turkey. I found them via a friend sharing their post on the book of faces, and thought they were absolutely hilarious.

They also happen to share a lot of knowledge about goats, goat breeding and goat milking. And since eventually, I kinda want to add goats to our chaos around here, I started reading their posts and following their fun. The ladies of Hairy Farmpit Girls are absolutely hilarious, and if you aren’t easily offended, I highly recommend following their posts for some entertaining farm humor.

Well, along the way, I started looking into the products they sell, namely goat milk soap and lotions. Initially I thought I wouldn’t try them, because I have such sensitive skin, and my eczema flares and I break out in hives at even thought of changing products! But then I started reading more of their site, and realized that one of the Farmpit Girls, Swan, is even more sensitive than I am, and that they put extreme care into what they make, with very minimal ingredients.

Soap from my first order.

So I decided to order some and try it. I ordered a few bars, plus some lotion. It arrived in less than 5 days, and it smelled heavenly. The lotion is amazing. Because it’s made with goat milk and few other ingredients, it’s rich and moisturizing, without being overly greasy or heavy. And the soap was so luxurious! I immediately stopped using my fancy body-wash for sensitive skin and switched to their soap only, with no eczema flare and no breakout.

So then I decided to really go for it and start using only the goat-milk products and stopped using all the rest of my sensitive skin products. And haven’t had any reactions. And after doing some additional research, I found out why. Goat milk is actually recommended for people with sensitive skin, because of the way the fat molecules in it are arranged. Goat milk baths used to be the go-to for treating, wait for it, eczema!

So now I’m hooked! I won’t go back to my old products, especially because these are so minimal and make my skin feel so happy! So, if you are looking for soap right now, as is everyone else, I recommend going and ordering some goat milk soap bars. Your skin will thank you!
