About

I’m an IT Project Manager in the Pacific Northwest who convinced her husband in 2018 that it was finally time to get out of the suburbs and move to the country. We found a beautiful home on 5 acres, less than 20 minutes from where we had lived for the last 15 years, and yet it feels a million miles away.

The sunsets and rainbows out here are amazing!

We’ve gone from a neighborhood of over 600 homes to 7 homes on our private gravel road. I’ve traded my tiny yard for pastures and a tractor and gotten back to my rural roots. Both my husband and I grew up in areas that enjoyed a slower-paced, rural lifestyle and have looked forward to getting back to that life now.

It’s a joy to come home from our urban jobs every day to our country home and relax. I feel the stress lift from my shoulders as soon as I leave the last town and get out into the open. Just seeing all the pastures, with the dairy cows makes me smile and relax. Sitting on our deck, or looking out our windows is an instant stress-release.

I never get tired of the views, even when they include tractor equipment.

This is our forever home; we plan to retire here. In addition to looking forward to enjoying our garden, orchard and chickens, we plan to add goats, and a second Saint Bernard in the coming years. We’re also crafters and cosplayers, so our new home has ample space for a craft room, as well as a large woodworking shop.

This blog is my space to talk about our projects, both on the farm, and cosplay and crafting. I look forward to sharing our successes and challenges, as well as what we learn along the way. Welcome to our journey!
